Zereoue said that when the man came into the apartment building, the first thing he heard was Irigoyen screaming "He's got a knife! He's going to kill the baby!"'
"I seen sic him dragging her down the stairs," Zereoue told the Post. "I seen sic her hands hanging on to a hallway for dear life."
Zereoue's girlfriend dialed 911 as he rushed to helped her. By the time he got to her, however, she was lying in a pool of her own blood. Her small puppy, a pug, was standing over her, and the killer had already fled.
"I kept telling her, 'Hang on, hang on, help is coming," Zereoue recalled.
