Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s family is furious over a new show that will document the Munchausen victim’s painful upbringing, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned.
Gypsy’s story garnered attention from all over the country in 2015 after HBO released its documentary about her life, Mommy Dead and Dearest. It revealed that the troubled kid, now 27, was a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy.
Gypsy’s mother Dee Dee forced her to live confined to a wheelchair and fake illnesses such as muscular dystrophy and leukemia in an effort to receive vacations and free housing.
Years later, Gypsy killed her mother and is currently serving 10 years in prison for second-degree murder.
Now, in an exclusive interview with RadarOnline.com, Gypsy’s cousin, Bobby Pitre, revealed that some of the family is not happy that yet another show about their sordid story has been released.
Hulu’s new drama series The Act features Patricia Arquette and Joey King as Dee Dee and Gypsy respectively.
“Dee Dee’s sisters think it’s pretty f**ked up,” Pitre said about the new show. “They hate all of it. They don’t know why people keep making stories about it.”
“They want people to just let it go and leave it alone!"
RadarOnline.com previously spoke to Gypsy’s father, Rod Blanchard, who shared that his daughter is thriving behind bars.
Due to Gypsy’s extreme deprivation as a child, Rod shared his daughter feels more free in prison than she ever did in her mother’s care.
Pitre told RadarOnline.com he remembers having concerns about Dee Dee as a kid.
“She was pretty f**king crazy,” he told RadarOnline.com. “She deserved to die.”
Pitre said he believes if Dee Dee was still alive today, she would still be trying to manipulate Gypsy.
“She’d be controlling Gypsy for sure,” he said. “She had Gypsy right where she wanted her.”
As RadarOnline.com readers know, Gypsy is currently working towards receiving her high school degree behind bars.
The Munchausen victim will be eligible for parole before her 33rd birthday.
