Florida Woman Vanishes In Costa Rica After Spending Night In ‘Sketchy’ Airbnb
Jan. 4 2019, Updated 9:53 a.m. ET
Family members of a Florida woman are heartbroken and concerned after the 36-year-old vanished during a birthday trip to Costa Rica.
As RadarOnline.com has learned, Carla Stefaniak traveled to the country with her sister-in-law April Burton. This past Tuesday, she dropped Burton off at the airport for her flight home, and later that night, sent her a text complaining about her grimy Airbnb.
“It’s pretty sketchy in here,” Stefaniak wrote to Burton after the power went out in the shabby home.
The next day, Stefaniak was scheduled to fly back home to Hallandale Beach, but she failed to show up to the airport — family members and friends have not heard from her since.
Now, Stefaniak’s loved ones believe the Florida resident was kidnapped. According to reports, her brother — and Burton’s husband — flew to Costa Rica and is now working with authorities to find his missing sister.
Various outlets reported that the Airbnb owners claimed they saw Stefaniak leave the home early on Wednesday morning, and the Uber drive her who drove her to the home gave the same story. But her family members believe their claims to be false, since Stefaniak’s flight was scheduled for the afternoon, and the Airbnb was just 30 minutes away from the airport.
Carla Stefaniak was last seen online at 8:20 p.m. this past Tuesday, before her phone died at 9:00 p.m..
