Kate's Family Partly To Blame For 2007 Split From Prince William, Royal Source Claims

Kate Middleton and Prince William's love story is one for the ages: the two met at University of St Andrews, dated for six years, got engaged in Kenya, married in the most anticipated royal wedding of all time, and now have three beautiful children. But despite the fantasy romance surrounding their relationship and family life, a royal expert says it wasn't always rainbows and butterflies for the famous couple.

As RadarOnline.com readers recall, Kate, 36, and William, 36, split for a few months in 2007, after the now-Duchess reportedly gave the royal an ultimatum to propose. According to former royal editor, Duncan Larcombe, however, there was another reason behind the sudden breakup: the standing of Kate's middle-class family.

In William & Kate: The Journey, a documentary about the royal couple, Larcombe revealed that Kate's "family background" might have played a part in their decision to split. He explained that Williams' friends used to make fun of the brunette beauty's humble beginnings, as well of her mother's former profession as an air hostess.

They allegedly would even say "doors to manual" whenever Kate passed by.

Larcombe admitted that the palace has "strenuously denied" all claims that Kate was teased over her middle-class background, but insiders like himself believe it to be true.

Regardless, Kate and William's split turned out to be a blessing in disguise for the adorable couple, as after just a few months apart, the two decided they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together!
