Ashlee Simpson & Evan Ross In 'Huge Fight' Over Floundering Reality Show’s Future

Ashlee Simpson waited 13 years to return to reality TV — but her comeback hasn't been so triumphant!

After a few short months on E!, her and her husband Evan Ross' new show is already on the chopping block, a source exclusively told RadarOnline.

Worse, the muted viewer interest in Ashlee+Evan has caused tension between the previously low-profile couple.

“Ashlee and Evan got in a huge fight because he didn’t want to do the show in the first place and he is upset that now they look like failures,” revealed the source.

“Ashlee assured Evan that the show would be a hit," noted the source. "She told him that fans have been begging her to come back to TV."

“She sold the show so well, that she even convinced Diana Ross to be on it,” added the source.

Simpson, 33, is now distraught that their TV future is in limbo, and she's seeking advice from her seasoned older sister.

“She’s having breakdowns and it has gotten so bad that she’s turned to Jessica for comfort,” revealed the source.

According to the source, E! is “less than thrilled” with the Ashlee+Evan ratings and the network is not ready to commit to another season.

According to reports, the pair’s TV debut in September wasn’t originally intended to be a reality show. Instead, it was going to be a behind-the-scenes look at Simpson and Ross, 30, making a joint album, which was released Oct. 12, two days before the show's season finale.

And they aren’t the only ones seeing a ratings slump.

Once a ratings juggernaut, Season 15 of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, which aired in the time slot before Ashlee+Evan, consistently dropped in viewership in the weeks after its premiere the same month.

Ashlee+Evan producers have been pressuring E! to commit to another season,” said the source. “However, it’s all about ratings and at this point the future of the show is up in the air and cancellation could be imminent.”

However, the show could be saved under one condition, RadarOnline.com has learned.

“If Diana Ross agrees to appear in every episode as Evan’s mom and music mentor, it could work,” said the source.

The music legend appeared on Season 1 alongside her son and daughter-in-law in the studio.

“Diana is an icon and if the show was about Diana and Evan, it would be a sensation,” noted the source, adding, “Diana would only do reality TV with her son, so of course, she is open to the idea.”
