Tina Turner Attempted Suicide During Awful Marriage To Ike, She Reveals In Tell-All
Tina Turner has been outspoken about the horrific beatings she endured from her ex, Ike Turner. Now, RadarOnline.com has learned that in her forthcoming memoir, My Love Story, out later this month, the legendary singer writes about how her first marriage was so traumatizing she attempted suicide to escape it.
The book details the extreme lows Tina endured as Ike cheated on her with multiple women and physically assaulted her. The infidelity and abuse resulted in the singer overdosing on sleeping pills in 1968, she explains.
“It felt like something I had to do. Right after dinner, I took the pills, all fifty of them, which is not an easy thing to do,” Tina wrote about the incident.
The shocking memoir reveals for the first time the excruciating details that took place before and after the star’s suicide attempt. Tina admits her suicide attempt was premeditated. Before the terrifying stunt, the singer lied to her doctor about having difficulty sleeping in order to obtain a prescription for sleeping pills.

Plus, the battered wife said she timed the overdose so that it would not interfere with a scheduled performance she had with Ike.
Moments after Tina downed the pills, the diva’s team observed she was having trouble applying her makeup and speaking out loud. She was rushed to the hospital and had her stomach pumped.
It wasn’t until Ike began speaking by her bedside that the “What’s Love Got To Do With It” singer woke up, she explained. But his words were far from supportive. Tina recalled her abusive first husband telling her to die and calling her a “mother f**ker.”
Tina’s shocking suicide confession comes months after her son, Craig Turner, took his own life at his Los Angeles home on July 3.
A coroner’s report exclusively obtained by RadarOnline.com showed he had relapsed on booze before he shot himself in the head.
