Selena Gomez 'Frantic' Over Lost Phone Days Before Hospitalization
Days before Selena Gomez checked into a hospital, she was spotted at a Mexican restaurant in California frantic over the loss of her phone, RadarOnline.com can exclusively reveal.
According to an eyewitness, Gomez entered a Wild Taco restaurant in the Newport Beach area on September 18 and asked to use the bathroom.
"She came in with her best friend and asked me where the bathroom was," said the onlooker. "Her and her friend — who is from Newport Beach— used the restroom and they left."
Ten minutes later, Gomez's friend came back in a panic, questioning if the “Back To You” singer's cell phone was left behind.
"They thought Selena left her phone in our restroom. No phone was found or turned in so it’s possible someone could have stolen her phone from the restaurant or she lost it prior to coming into Wild Taco,” the witness said.
The source explained that Gomez was "very sweet and didn’t seem sad" upon first entering the restaurant.
"She politely asked me where the restroom was and then thanked me," the insider said.
But that all changed when she noticed her phone went missing.
"Once people in the restaurant started noticing her and she realized her phone was missing, that’s when I could tell her energy shifted and she just wanted to get out of there,” the onlooker continued. “Her and her friend seemed a bit frantic."
The witness added that Justin Bieber’s ex and her friend were seen getting into a white SUV before driving off.
The incident comes only days before the 26-year-old singer posted a 45-minute cryptic Instagram live video explaining her frustration with fame.
A few days later she checked into Cedar-Sinai Medical Center due complications involving her kidney transplant.
She suffered a mental breakdown in the days following, and eventually transferred to a psychiatric facility on the east coast to deal with her ongoing battle with anxiety and depression.
