Megyn Kelly SLAMMED For Defending Blackface On 'Today'

Megyn Kelly is under fire. On Tuesday, October 23, the TODAY host shocked fans when she got involved in a panel discussion about the offensiveness of blackface — and made some very controversial comments.

Recalling the time RHONY star Luann De Lesseps got backlash for dressing like Diana Ross — dark skin tone and all — Kelly said: "I don't see how that is racist on Halloween."

The outspoken TV host argued that it's not racism if a person is dressing like a character, and said that she "can't keep up with the number of people" that individuals who do blackface offend "just by being like, normal people."

"But what is racist? You truly do get in trouble if you are a white person who puts on blackface at Halloween or a black person who puts on white face," said a bewildered Kelly, 47. "That was okay when I was a kid, as long as you were dressing like a character."

"I haven't seen it, but it sounds pretty racist to me," said fellow panelist, Jacob Soboroff, speaking of De Lesseps' wild costume. Jenna Bush Hager agreed.

Kelly didn't seem to think anything was wrong about her bizarre remark, but Twitter users and stars thought otherwise.

"I cannot believe the ignorance on this in 2018. You are on national television. You have a responsibility to educate yourself on social issues @megynkelly. This is so damaging," wrote TV host Padma Lakshmi on Twitter.

RadarOnline.com readers know this is not a good look for Kelly, who has been deemed a total diva and ice queen by various NBC sources.

Her offensive comment comes on the heels of Roseanne Barr's racist tweet comparing former Obama staffer Valerie Jarrett to the Muslim brotherhood and Planet of the Apes. She was eventually fired from her hit show.

So, how will Megyn Kelly argue her way out of this one?
