Erased From History? 9/11 Museum May Remove Video Footage Of Matt Lauer

Matt Lauer may be erased from history, RadarOnline.com can exclusively report.

The 9/11 Museum in New York City has become a beacon of hope for survivors and Americans everywhere following the horrific 2001 tragedy. In the memorial, one can find the names of every innocent victim, as well as breaking news videos from that dreadful day.

Shamed former Today host Lauer, 60, was one of the first anchors to speak about the terror attack as it occurred, and his reports are displayed on screens in the museum.

And while the video footage of his reports have certainly become a piece of American history, Lauer's sexual misconduct allegations have become a "distraction" in the museum, a source exclusively told RadarOnline.com.

Now, the establishment's execs are thinking of replacing the clips with footage from Good Morning America, the source claimed.

A spokesperson for the memorial told RadarOnline.com in a statement: "The footage of Matt Lauer and Katie Couric sharing the news of the September 11 attacks during their morning broadcast will remain in the museum as it is part of the historical record."

Lauer was infamously fired from Today in November 2017 following allegations he sexually harassed female employees, and had sexual relationships with subordinates. He later confessed to inappropriate behavior, but denied assaulting or abusing anyone.
