A love story between a romance novelist and a chef took a tragic twist last week, when the woman reportedly shot the man dead inside his work place.

As RadarOnline.com has learned, published author Nancy Crampton-Brophy, 68, was arrested this Wednesday after allegedly murdering her husband, Daniel C. Brophy, 63.

The writer reportedly barged into Oregon Culinary Institute—where her husband worked as a teacher—this Saturday morning and shot her husband.

Portland Police Bureau confirmed the news in a statement, adding that while medical personnel tried to revive Daniel, they were too late.

As of now, Nancy was being held at the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Murder and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. She appeared in court this Thursday.

Nancy is the author of “The Wrong Husband,” “Hell on the Heart” and “The Girl Most Likely To,” among others.

A motive for the apparent murder has not yet been revealed.
