‘We Heard A Big Thud!’ Harrison Ford Plane Crash Eyewitness Recalls

Harrison Ford escaped death on March 5, 2015 when he had to perform an emergency crash landing on a golf course when flying his vintage WW2 fighter plane. The near-fatal incident was brought upon by a malfunction inside the jet, and caused the actor to suffer amnesia.

Now, three years later, REELZ’s new docuseries, Collision Course: Harrison Ford, is giving viewers new details about what exactly happened on that sunny Los Angeles day, and how a nearby doctor saved the Hollywood icon’s life.

“We had just hit our tee shots on the seventh fairway and were walking up to our tee shots when his plane took off, or when we saw his plane go overhead,” says eyewitness Jon Stevens, recalling Ford’s scary crash.

Stevens says he looked up, and realized it was an iconic-looking WW2 plane that seemed to be in great shape.

He and his pals had just hit their shots when they heard the plane coming back over the trees. It was speeding and flying extremely low, which is when he told spine surgeon Sanjay Khurana—who was also golfing at the time—that the plane was not going to make it.

“And we’re watching, and it glides silently and then… we heard a big thud!” recalls another eyewitness.

Khurana was the surgeon that stayed with Ford, 79, until the paramedics arrived.

“You could basically hear the mechanical parts of the plane,” recalls Stevens.

Collision Course: Harrison Ford airs Sunday, September 16 at 10 ET / PT on REELZ.
