Elizabeth Smart’s male kidnapper and rapist is moving to a new prison on the heels of his wife Wanda Barzee’s recent release, RadarOnline.com can exclusively report.

Brian David Mitchell, the man who threatened Smart, then 14, with a knife and lured her out of her Utah home in 2002 is now serving a life sentence for the kidnapping. Mitchell, now 64, and Barzee, now 72, tortured and raped Smart for nine months in the woods of Utah and California before she was found.

Now, a Federal Bureau of Prisons official confirmed to RadarOnline.com that Mitchell is currently in locked up in a prison in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, waiting to be transferred to another prison. According to the official, Mitchell’s move could be due to a fight with an inmate.

“Usually people spend their sentence in one particular place, but they may be moving him for some program-related issue,” said the BOP official. “It could be because he had to be separated from someone else. If inmates have a program-related issue, or a “P” issue, they need to be separated from each other.”

Mitchell reportedly began his life sentence at a federal prison in Arizona in 2011. The BOP official said approximately 1,700 inmates a day get moved to Oklahoma City.

“It’s like the federal express where all packages go through Memphis,” said the spokesperson. “All inmates go through Oklahoma City.”

But among those 1,700, the official explained to RadarOnline.com on Friday that Mitchell could be treated as a “special” inmate due to his shocking transfer.

“Generally inmates are moved in groups. His situation may be special in that he would have to be moved separately if he is involved in a program issue,” said the federal official.

Smart publicly said it was “disturbing” that Barzee has been released. The survivor ordered the child snatcher not to contact her after prison, RadarOnline.com exclusively learned.

Barzee’s other half, however, is scheduled to remain behind bars for life.
