Aretha Franklin Did Not Suffer At Death, Nephew Claims: 'She Went Home In Peace'

Though she fought cancer for years before her tragic death, Aretha Franklin did not suffer in her final moments, the music legend's nephew told RadarOnline.com exclusively.

"She fought a good fight," Tim Franklin told RadarOnline.com, adding that the star was very brave in her battle. "She went home in peace."

As RadarOnline.com reported, the 76-year-old icon died surrounded by family and friends in her Detroit home at 9:50 am.

Her family confirmed her cause of death as pancreatic cancer of the neuroendocrine type. The National ENQUIRER reported her cancer battle years before her passing.

The superstar was known simply as a beloved family member to her loved ones.

“To us, we did not know Aretha as the Queen of Soul. To us, she was our aunt. She was a loving aunt, a caring aunt and a friend. Right now I’m trying to wrap my head around this whole thing. She’ll be sorely missed by the family,” a shaken Tim told RadarOnline.com.

“She was a strong woman of faith and strong beliefs. We know where she went," he continued. "She didn’t die. She just transitioned to the next life.”

As RadarOnline.com previously revealed, the singer's partner Willie Wilkerson and four sons are now expected to fight over her $80 million fortune in the aftermath of the tragedy.
