Five years after beloved actor Paul Walker died in a brutal car crash, his friends and family members have come together to celebrate his life, passion and career with a shocking new documentary.
I Am Paul Walker by Network Entertainment gives viewers an inside look into the Furious 7 star’s childhood, close-knit family and zest for life.
“He was a big kid, he was a big kid,” recalls Walker’s brother Cody in the documentary teaser.
“He liked to go fast,” says sister Ashlie, speaking of the times she rode on the back of his toy bike outside their home.
“That guy made the best of every single minute, he lived five lifetimes,” adds director Wayne Kramer, recalling Walker’s fast lifestyle and endless energy.
Laughing in the clip while remembering Walker, childhood friend and stunt performer Oakley Lehman describes the late actor as a “gun-toting hippie, balance of opposites… lover and a fighter.”
“He’s definitely not a puppet… he’s definitely not somebody that’s just going to be told to do something and then do it,” agrees childhood friend Andy Muxlow.
Speaking of his amazing character and passion for life, director Rob Cohen says: “Cinema didn’t capture it all, couldn’t capture it all.”
Despite the fact that he turned out to be one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, Walker never had fame in his mind while pursuing acting — and even considered leaving it all behind for a quiet life.
“Paul was always an actor who had one foot in, and one foot out — he would just disappear!” explains the late star’s beloved manager, Matt Luber.
“He’d always say like ‘I wanted to be a park ranger, you know make 28 grand a year and like live in the wilderness.’ That’s really what he wanted to do,” recalls brother Caleb.
The handsome actor was a loving father to daughter Meadow Rain, now 19.
Cohen added that the only things Walker really cared about where his daughter and his surfing.
“I can actually say he did a lot of things that made a lot of difference in a lot of people’s lives. He was a giver,” says Walker’s uncle, Rhett.
“If you loved him the way we did, you would say ‘Well why him and not us?’” adds actor and Walker’s longtime actor friend, Tyrese Gibson.
