Redmond O'Neal Faces 22 Years In Prison For Attempted Murder Charge & Other Crimes

Redmond O’Neal could face 22 years in state prison if convicted of attempted murder and other serious crimes after the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office filed more charges on Monday, June 11 against the troubled son of Ryan O’Neal and Farrah Fawcett.

Ryan O'Neal and Farrah Fawcett's troubled son is facing a total of 12 felony and misdemeanor counts related to a “crime spree” that the troubled 33-year old allegedly committed in the Venice Beach and Palms neighborhoods in Los Angeles that began on May 2 and ended with his arrest on May 8.

According to court documents obtained exclusively by RadarOnline.com, O’Neal’s new charges include attempted murder, making criminal threats, two felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one count of misdemeanor battery and exhibiting a deadly weapon. Prosecutors also charged O’Neal with special allegations that he inflicted great bodily harm against two victims.

According to LAPD officials, a man fitting O’Neal’s description was walking near the Venice Beach Boardwalk on Speedway and Rose avenues at about 5 p.m. on May 4 and stabbed a man with a knife, leaving serious wounds to the left side of the victim's body. At about 8:30 p.m., witnesses saw another man laying in a pool of blood near 4th and Rose avenues with stab wounds to his face and body, police said.

Nearby surveillance video captured a man fitting O’Neal’s description, who walked away from the scene shortly after the victim was found lying on the sidewalk. According to sources interviewed by RadarOnline.com, O’Neal allegedly stabbed that victim multiple times in the torso and head, causing possible brain injuries.

O’Neal allegedly left blood evidence and fingerprints at the crime scene, which led authorities to identify him as a suspect through DNA, sources told RadarOnline.com.

Investigators also said O’Neal brandished a folding knife at an employee of a coffee shop on Pacific and Windward avenues on May 5 at about 4 p.m.

O’Neal was already facing a felony second-degree robbery charge for a May 8 robbery in Santa Monica where he allegedly threatened a convenience store clerk with a knife and demanded money. In that case, O’Neal was charged with one felony assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a smoking device, possession of an injection/ingestion device and two counts of possessing a controlled substance, which were meth and heroin.

O’Neal, who is being held in Men's Central Jail in Los Angeles at more than $1.31 million bail, has asked to be observed by a doctor, who would determine whether or not O’Neal is mentally competent to stand trial for his various criminal charges.

O’Neal has pleaded not guilty to the charges connected to the May 8 robbery, but he has yet to be arraigned on the new charges.
