A source close to Dillard, who is still unemployed, spilled to Radar that he’s currently filling up his spare time by attending the School of Ministry at Cross Church in Fayetteville, Arkansas. It’s the same church Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar attend.
“Derick does work with the college ministry. He’s not an employee though,” said the source. “He helps with whatever’s needed.”
Dillard specifically works on minister missions, said the source. Jill has followed him on his journey – earlier this week they were in Texas for a ministry event – and hinted she doesn’t exactly have much of a voice in what they’re doing.
“She’s his wife so Jill’s ministry is pretty much whatever Derick’s ministry is,” the source continued.
According to the insider, the program Dillard is enrolled in takes one year to complete. He’s currently in a class that is dominated by males. He’s expected to finish up his residency next month.
As Radar readers know, Dillard had a dramatic falling out with the TLC network, which airs the family’s reality show, Counting On. The network released a statement last year admitting they cut ties with the outspoken Duggar in-law shortly after he came under fire for making transphobic comments online.
"We want to let our viewers know that Derick Dillard has not participated in 'Counting On' for months and the network has no plans to feature him in the future. We want to reiterate that Derick's personal statements do not reflect the views of the network," the network said at the time.
