Jon Gosselin Celebrates His 'Missing' Son Collin's Birthday
Jon Gosselin has posted a rare picture of Collin, the troubled son his ex-wife Kate put in a behavioral health facility for "special needs."
In the Instagram photo, Collin stands with his father and sister Hannah to mark their recent May 10 14th birthday.
They are all smiling with a birthday cake and pie on a table beside them. Jon has his hands on Collin's shoulders with Hannah standing beside them. Collin looks happy and is wearing shorts and a tee shirt.
"Glad I could celebrate my son Collin’s 14th birthday with him and his sister!" Jon wrote as a caption.
Fans have long wondered what had happened to Collin, one of the eight Gosselin kids who have starred on Jon & Kate Plus 8 and then Kate Plus 8 after the couple's bitter divorce. Collin was born as a sextuplet with his siblings Hannah, Aaden, Alexis, Leah and Joel.
"Awee it's so nice to be able to see Collin again. I haven't seen a picture of him with his siblings in a long time," one of Jon's followers wrote on Instagram about the birthday shot.
As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Kate revealed in summer 2016 that her son had been sent away from home to cope with “special needs.”
Sources told RadarOnline.com that he was living in a “preadolescent unit” at a facility about two hours from the Gosselin family home in Pennsylvania.
“Collin has special needs,” Kate has told PEOPLE. “There’s a fairly fluid diagnosis of what those needs are, but he needs to learn certain strategies to help him deal with things. This has been a struggle we’ve had for a very long time, and it’s one I’ve dealt with on my own.
“I am confident he is in the best hands and receiving the best of what’s being offered for his situation,” Kate has said.
But his father Jon was furious and in late 2016, charged Kate with locking away their son and refusing to let his dad see him or even know where he is. “I have an idea where he is but I don’t really know where he is,” Jon said on ET at the time.
Jon slammed Kate’s claims about their son, who reportedly was expelled from school along with his sister Alexis for violent and abuse behavior against other students in 2010.
Collin is “really smart” and “incredibly intuitive,” Jon added in the interview.
And now, it appears Jon spent a happy day with his boy and wanted fans to see that Collin is doing well!
