Disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein has officially been indicted in relation to his ongoing sexual assault charges, and RadarOnline.com has exclusively obtained the shocking indictment document.
“A Grand Jury has voted to indict Harvey Weinstein on charges of Rape in the First and Third Degrees, and Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree,” Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance, Jr. said in a written statement.
“This indictment brings the defendant another step closer to accountability for the crimes of violence with which he is now charged,” the statement continues. “Our office will try this case not in the press, but in the courtroom where it belongs.
“The defendant’s recent assault on the integrity of the survivors and the legal process is predictable. We are confident that when the jury hears the evidence, it will reject these attacks out of hand."
As Radar has reported, Weinstein, 66, turned himself into NYC police on Friday morning, May 25, after being accused of sexual harassment, misconduct and assault by dozens of women.
Weinstein has vehemently denied hat he was involved in non-consensual relations with women, and moments after turning himself in, his lawyer defended the former producer.
“Mr. Weinstein intends to enter a plea of not guilty,” lawyer Benjamin Brafman told reporters after the court appearance. “He intends to seek quickly to dismiss these charges. They believe they are constitutionally flawed and are nonfactual and at the end of the process, Mr. Weinstein will be exonerated.”
The indictment came hours after Brafman revealed Weinstein would not to testify before the grand jury, arguing there wasn’t enough time to prepare since turning himself in on Friday.
