Artie Lange's battle with addiction is so bad that "heroin is like oxygen" for him, he revealed in his new tell-all, “Wanna Bet?”, exclusively obtained by RadarOnline.com ahead of publication on July 17, 2018.

The troubled comedian admitted to having few regrets in his life. But when it came to the time he first did heroin, Lange said he would take it all back in a flash.

"Some risks, like skipping college to chase my dream — I'd never tell anyone not to do that. Others, like trying heroin, a drug I romanticized for years, I'd do anything to keep someone from following in my footsteps," Lange, 50, admitted. "Out of all my life's risks, that is the only one I wish I could take back."

In the bombshell book, Lange goes into the psychological effects that heroin in particular has on someone.

"If I could go back to the'90s when I was on blow and my life was chaotic, I would. You can stop snorting blow if you want to, you can stop smoking weed, but heroin and opiates of any kind become a part of you. They become your oxygen. You might think you're invincible, but play around with them and in no time, you'll have a serious habit to the point that you'll need them every eight hours."

The troubled comic explained that doing drugs for him was another way of betting on his life – which kept life interesting.

"Naturally, when it comes to betting with my life, I apply the same philosophy. Unfortunately for me, the game I lose biggest at is the one I can't stop playing, and that game is a roulette called drugs," Lange admitted. "I just can't stay away from them, and it's not cool or something I'm proud of. "

"I'm an addict, and I do my best to stay sober and keep from letting opiates and cocaine destroy all the good things I have going for me, but it ain't easy, man. Drugs are a surefire way to dial up the unknown . Because, much like the way I bet, when I do drugs, I go big."

Lange was charged with possession of heroin and cocaine last spring. He is set to appear in court on May 18 for sentencing.
