Roberta Flack Is Rushed To Hospital
"Killing Me Softly" singer Roberta Flack reportedly cut her performance short at the Apollo Theater on Friday night after feeling ill—and had to be rushed to the hospital in an ambulance.
According to a website, Flack, 81, felt extremely dizzy as she was supposed to walk out onstage to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Jazz Foundation of America.
Although she was able to leave the stage on her own, the FDNY said they received a call of someone sick at 8:40 p.m. and that she was taken to Harlem Hospital in New York.
Her manager explained to PEOPLE, "She suffered a stroke a few years ago. She didn't feel well so it was best to take her to the hospital. She's doing fine but is being kept overnight for observation." Later, Flack was released from the hospital.
Flack, also known for her hit song "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face," was seen smiling with fans while wearing dark sunglasses and a gold top before the scary health scare.

"Killing Me Softly with His Song" was a number one hit for the star in 1973.
Earlier this year, the New York Post reported that Flack was planning to sell her five-room apartment inside Manhattan's famed Dakota co-op. The singer is reportedly a next door neighbor to John Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono.
