Gwyneth Paltrow Entered ‘Dark Place’ With Postpartum Depression After Son’s Birth
Gwyneth Paltrow is finally coming clean about the brutal depression she suffered following her son, Moses’ birth.
In her latest Goop podcast, the now-engaged actress spoke to her mom, Blythe Danner, about life, pregnancy, and her journey to motherhood.
“When I had Apple, my experience with myself was completely transformed,” Paltrow, 45, said. “I was so in love with her, I still am.”
The blonde bombshell added that while she assumed she would feel the same way after welcoming her son, it was actually the complete opposite.
“I had terrible post-natal depression, which I think was really shocking to me because I never thought that I would be a person who got post-natal depression,” she explained. “I was so euphoric when Apple was born, and I assumed it would happen with Mosey and it took a while. I went to a dark place.”
As RadarOnline.com readers know, Paltrow shared daughter Apple, 13, and son Moses, 12, with ex Chris Martin, 41. She is now engaged and ready to walk down the aisle with longtime beau, Brad Falchuk.
“Mosey and I are so similar in a lot of ways, and we have the same bad qualities, so sometimes I find it really triggering with him,” Paltrow continued on her podcast. “And I always have to think, ‘Ok, try to put a pause in between what you’re feeling and what you’re going to do or say next.’”
After Paltrow’s shocking confession, an amazed Danner, 75, praised her daughter for being the wonderful mother, entrepreneur and woman she is today.

“You had a strength and you knew who you were. I should have been wise enough,” Danner said, recalling Paltrow’s childhood. “That still bothers me, that I didn’t have the wisdom, which I think your dad did, to observe, to know that you were this creature, unlike anything I knew.”
