'Traumatized' Man Held Hostage For 5 Years, Arrested For Sexual Assault After Rescue
Ex-hostage, Joshua Boyle, has been arrested on 15 charges, including sexual assault, following his release from captivity in Afghanistan.
As RadarOnline.com has learned, the father-of-three and his wife were kidnapped by a Taliban-linked Haqqani group and held hostage for five years. Their children were all born in captivity, yet after their miraculous release this past October, Boyle's life took a turn for the worse.
According to court documents, the Canadian man was charged after he allegedly forced someone to "take a noxious thing, namely Trazodone." While his victim is yet to be exposed, RadarOnline.com has learned that Boyle's wife was sent to the hospital just one day after their release. The reason was not disclosed.
Boyle also reportedly uttered a death threat and misled a police officer following his rescue.
The man's American wife Caitlan spoke out following his arrest, telling reporters, "I can't speak about the specific charges, but I can say that ultimately it is the strain and trauma he was forced to endure for so many years and the effects that that had on his mental state that is most culpable for this."

She added: "Obviously, he is responsible for his own actions, but it is with compassion and forgiveness that I say I hope help and healing can be found for him. As to the rest of us, myself and the children, we are healthy and holding up as well as we can."
She and her children are now living in Ottawa as Boyle is being held for questioning.
"Mr Boyle is presumed innocent. He's never been in trouble before. No evidence has been provided yet, which is typical at this early stage. We look forward to receiving the evidence and defending him against these charges," said Eric Granger, Boyle's attorney after claiming he had not seen the court documents in his client's case.
