Brittany Murphy's Sick Dad Drops Investigation On Her Death, Proclaims: 'I've Lost Hope'

Brittany Murphy's ailing father is giving up on her death investigation as he continues to wither away, RadarOnline.com has learned.

"I've lost hope," Angelo Bertolotti said of his battle to get the Los Angeles Coroner's Office to exhume Brittany's remains.

Angelo, 90, sued the coroner's office and Los Angeles Police Department in 2014 for botching his daughter's death records.

The coroner ruled the death was due to complications from pneumonia, but separate lab tests that he requested indicated the 32-year-old actress had suspiciously elevated levels of heavy metal in her system. The records suggested that she might have been poisoned — meaning her death was actually a homicide!

Angelo was also convinced that his ex and Brittany's mom was involved in her passing, and wanted to sue her for wrongful death.

Sharon Murphy stayed at the home Brittany shared with her husband Simon Monjack — even after she passed away. Monjack died under similar circumstances less than six months after his wife.

Sharon has not been seen in years, and her disappearance has halted the investigation into exhuming her daughter's body.

"We have attempted to locate Sharon multiple times, and they've refused to exhume without the mother agreeing," said family friend Julia Davis, a Department of Homeland Security snitch. "They've also refused to conduct any tests for toxins or poisons to confirm or challenge our lab reports."

"My father has explored every avenue, but he's got to move on with his life," Brittany's brother, Jeff Bertolotti, said. "He's not a well man."
