On the heels of Wednesday's tragedy in Virginia, an arrest was made, and emergency warnings were issued at Mississippi State University amid reports of a violent outbreak on campus.
At 10:40 a.m. local time, the university said that there were no confirmed injuries or shots fired after a college-wide text sent at 10:40 a.m. advised students to stay where they are, and not leave for scheduled classes, after reports came from the college's Carpenter Hall, WTVA reported.
Starkville, Miss. area schools are "on lockdown," the station reported.
According to tweets and re-tweets from @MSU_DawgPound -- an unaffiliated account that shares university news -- multiple people might have been involved in the incident. Unconfirmed tweets from the account indicated shots were heard after the lockdown was removed.
Story developing.
