The 51-year-old star of FX’s The Shield has yet to enter a plea in the case; officials said that on May 19, he pulled the trigger on his wife, a 40-year-old mother-of-three who worked as an administrator at Biola University in La Mirada, Calif., in front of the children. The pair had been married for 11 years.

Police continue to investigate the reasons behind the shooting, noting that financial and domestic issues might have been ongoing. The actor had a history of struggling in both areas, including a 2011 bankruptcy filing, as well as his own admission in court papers that he and his first wife Jennifer Bitterman, who he split with in 2002, "were both guilty of overstepping physical boundaries” in the relationship.

As we previously reported, neighbors of the veteran actor, who had roles in motion pictures such as Boogie Nights and Forrest Gump in the 90s, said he looked like he “was in a daze” in the aftermath of the incident.
