Slim Dunkin was shot and killed in Atlanta Friday night.
According to Atlanta police, the rising star in the rap world was shot once in the chest with a handgun at around 5:30 p.m in a recording studio where he was preparing to make a video.
"Before the video shoot took place, it appears the victim and suspect got involved in a verbal altercation," Atlanta Police Maj. Keith Meadows told the Associated Press. "We don't know what that altercation was about."
A dozen people were in the studio at the time, he said, without revealing the name of the suspected shooter.
"Right now we're just trying to . . . identify who may have seen what, really just trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together," Meadows said. "It seems everybody witnessed something very different. We're just trying to go back and make sense of everything."
The rapper -- real name Mario Hamilton -- was pronounced dead at Memorial Grady Hospital.
