If Lindsay Lohan is found to be in violation of her probation come May 20, the judge could throw her in jail---something her father, Michael Lohan, feels is the worst thing for her.

EXCLUSIVE: Lindsay Lohan's Lawyer, District Attorney & Judge Hold Secret Meeting

"Lindsay does not belong in jail. That would be the worst thing for her," a source close to Lohan told RadarOnline.com. "Michael has been in jail and he knows how horrible it is and would be for Lindsay. He feels the only thing that will ever truly his daughter is serious rehabilitation where she can be monitored in a controlled environment."

As RadarOnline.com reported exclusively, Michael's powerhouse attorney, Lisa Bloom sent a "very strong letter on Michael's behalf" to Lindsay and her attorney on Monday. The letter basically said that Michael wants his daughter to go to rehab and if she doesn't, he is reserving his legal rights including asking the probation for random drug searches, random searches  and possibly extending the terms of her probation for another year.

Bloom went on to say that, "Michael has not agreed to back down. All legal options are on the table and our next step is to ask the judge if she finds that Lindsay is in violation of probation to order her into to rehab. Michael loves Lindsay and doesn't want to resort to legal action. He has given her many chances, but he is a father that loves his daughter.

"Michael wants her to get help. And he's ready willing and able to help her get the help she needs. I would say really from the heart that Michael is in a bind. He really loves her. No father wants his daughter to go to jail or meet a potential end that many Hollywood stars have met."
