VIDEO: Double Elimination On American Idol Sends Katie Stevens And Andrew Garcia Home

It was a tough Wednesday night for the remaining nine American Idol contestants as two singers were put up on the chopping block during the double elimination. When all was said and done, Katie Stevens and Andrew Garcia were sent packing, leaving the rest of the Idol crew in tears, and RadarOnline.com has the clip.
The first elimination announcement came for Garcia whose bland performances week after week slowly ate away at his viability. And after Tuesday night’s boring rendition of Hound Dog, it was all but certain that his days singing on the Idol stage were numbered. Upon hearing the elimination news, Garcia had nothing but positive words about the show. “You let me experience something I’ve never experienced”, he said after singing his swan song, You Give Me Something.

To soothe the audience’s anxiety between eliminations, producers placed a (boring) guitar and piano set by Season 7 favorite Brooke White and If I Could Dream star Justin Gaston. More notable was pop-sensation (and Idol alum) Adam Lambert’s Whatya Want From Me, a follow-up performance complete with strobe lights and smokescreens! With an impressive post-Idol resume including a hit single and album, Glambert had acted as a mentor for the contestants as they prepared for Tuesday’s Elvis-themed performances.

But as the show wound to a close, it was Katie Stevens and Michael Lynche who were left pondering their Idol-fate. Lynche, who was saved last week by the judges, hugged Katie after learning that he was safe. The Massachusetts-native wallowed told Seacrest that nothing could compare to the people she met and the experience she had on the show. And then she promptly took to the stage to sing a flat Let It Be. So, bon voyage!

On next week’s Idol, look out for Alicia Keys who will not only perform but serve as mentor to the seven remaining contestants.
