“I have received an e-mail from the producers of the show and I have to appear before the judges in April," Ridley confirmed to RadarOnline.com.
Ridley– who currently earns a modest living performing in a New York subway–could potentially earn millions of dollars, just like Boyle, if she can impress judges Piers Morgan, Howie Mandel and Sharon Osbourne and clinch the title.

Ridley, a former teacher, has an added incentive in the fame game since she has already seen her daughter become an overnight sensation following the success of Precious in which she played the lead role.
“It’s a big break for me and I would like to follow in Susan Boyle’s footsteps and become a star in my own right," Ridley continued. “I love the judges, Sharon and Piers, and I’m really looking forward to trying and impress them although I have not decided what I will sing or wear yet."
While she hasn't spoken to her daughter about the decision yet ("she is in Japan promoting a movie but I know that she fully supports me," she explained), Ridley says Gabourey is "at a good place" and is doing well.
“She is not considering doing any radical diets or anything like that as she is happy with the way she is."
For now, Ridley's focus will be preparing for her moment in the spotlight. “Singing is what I do so I'm looking forward to appearing on America’s Got Talent and showing people what I can really do."
America’s Got Talent, which his hosted by Mariah Carey’s husband Nick Cannon, has been taping live shows across the country as they search for the nation’s best talent.
