As her alleged kidnappers prepare for a courtroom appearance on Thursday, Jaycee Lee Dugard has engaged a top Hollywood celebrity lawyer, who was once a member of O.J. Simpson’s defense team, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned.
According to court records obtained by RadarOnline.com, Shawn Chapman Holley of the Santa Monica-based firm Kinsella Weitzman Iser Kump & Aldisert, now represents both Dugard and her children.
Chapman Holley was once the managing partner of the Cochran Law Firm in Los Angeles, founded by Johnnie Cochran, who orchestrated the criminal acquittal of O.J. Simpson.
Chapman Holley has also represented Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton.
A Californian judge had previously appointed lawyers to represent Dugard's minor children.
In the court records, the Duggard’s new lawyer also exercised their rights under Marsy's Law, a legal bill enforced to provide all victims with rights and due process.
Duggard is seeking a protective order from the court "to prohibit disclosure of any and all information, documentation and other materials which is confidential and otherwise pertains to them."
It would allow them not to disclose confidential information to the defense or anyone working on their behalf.
Phillip Garrido, 58, and his wife, Nancy, 55, are charged with kidnapping and raping Dugard over a period of years.
She and her daughters were discovered last August, living at the couple's Antioch home.
The pair will be back in court this Thursday, April 15.
