Former NFL star and season seven Dancing With The Stars runner-up Warren Sapp was arrested and charged with misdemeanor domestic battery in Miami Beach on Saturday.

The incident involving Sapp and his girlfriend occurred at the Shore Club Hotel at 5 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Miami is the site of Super Bowl XLIV this Sunday and Sapp was in town to cover the game for the NFL Network.

Sapp has been taken off the air and won't be part of Sunday's Super Bowl coverage, a network spokesperson tells RadarOnline.com.

Police said in a statement that Sapp has been charged with one count of misdemeanor domestic battery.

Sapp was brought in by Miami Beach police for questioning Saturday afternoon.
