Are you watching the Discovery Channel’s MythBusters? It’s one of the most interesting, entertaining and wait for it educational shows on TV . . . but not in a boring, makes your eyes roll into the back of your head kind of way. No, this show separates the fact from the fiction of those pesky urban legends. And, it’s the kind of newfound knowledge that you’re gonna want to share with everyone that you know!
Don’t know what an urban legend is? They’re those loose scientific theories that people love to debate and no one really knows are true or false—until now. The Mythbusters team actually tries them all out and gets the world an answer once and for all. Some that they’ve explored include:
Does drinking alcohol when you’re cold (such as brandy) warm you up? (Nope! Not true)?
Can staring at the sun will make you blind? (Yes it can—even during an eclipse)
Will setting off too many bug bombs in a house make it explode? (Crazy but true—you really just need one!)
Does it take seven years for a piece of chewing gum to pass through your digestive system if you swallow it? (Nope—will digest at the same rate as anything else you swallow)
Can you electrocute yourself by urinating off the platform on the electric, third rail of a train track? (Nope – not true)
DAILY. BREAKING. CELEBRITY NEWS. ALL FREE.
Can an old dog learn new tricks? (Actually, yes, they most certainly can)
Everyone has an Urban Legend that was passed down to them either in their family or from friends. The coolest part about the Mythbusters team is that they’re open to your suggestions and trying them out on the show. You can submit your own Urban Legends that may be keeping you up at night here so you can finally get the answers you’ve been seeking!
So, who are the Mythbusters? Hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman are special effects experts that take on three myths per show and use modern day science to separate fact from fiction. We highly suggest checking the show out on Wednesday night’s at 9pm ET on the Discovery Channel. It could change, save or just enhance the quality of your life to finally get these burning questions answered and urban legends busted!
