Jan. 6 2010, Published 1:03 p.m. ET
The heartbreaking news of the untimely death of Johnson and Johnson heiress Casey Johnson did not come as a total surprise to her family who had been gravely concerned about her sad downward spiral. Since her body was discovered at her home in Los Angeles on January 4, the desperate details of a family struggling to help a sick child have emerged.
Casey, 30, struggled with severe mental problems, a source close to her told RadarOnline.com exclusively. Casey was unable to sleep and spent her nights up ordering prescription medication over the internet and trying to find way to sleep. After exhausting herself with late night parties, the troubled heiress would finally crash during the day, sometimes sleeping as much as 16 hours after days of partying and being awake.

Before her daughter was taken away by her mother, Casey would often wake 3-year-old Ava-Monroe up in the middle of the night and play with her, interrupting the toddler's sleep for her own entertainment. Casey was never alone with her daughter, and the family felt that she couldn't handle her by herself.
A source close to Casey told RadarOnline.com exclusively that Casey experimented with cocaine as well.
