While hearing her parents concern and seeing old photos of self-inflicted scars weren’t enough to make anyone sympathetic to Lindsay Lohan’s cycle of self-destruction, new photos (taken as recently as this summer) have emerged showing that the actress’ self-mutilation continues to be a problem.
Taken on August 27, 2009, the photos show the actress enjoying some sun on a warm Los Angeles day. But a closer look at Lohan’s body reveals the sad truth that she has continued cutting herself since first being spotted with the tell-tale scars three years ago.
On Wednesday, RadarOnline.com brought you the exclusive audio recording in which Lindsay’s mother Dina laments over her daughter’s situation.
"Her cutting herself and hurting herself? Yeah, it's bad Michael, it's bad," she told Michael, her estranged husband and Lindsay’s father.
RadarOnline.com spoke with Dr. Wendy Lader- President and Clinical Director of the S.A.F.E ALTERNATIVES program and an international speaker on self-injury- who explained why people turn to cutting as a coping method: "People who self harm have the inability to communicate the depth of their feelings. They can't talk about their emotions. And they want to do something quick to deal with their frustration or anger. Cutting works immediately. As soon as they split the skin there is a release.”
