When asked what she would do once the show ended, Kate was quick to respond: “My career goals, believe it or not…I’ve discovered that I’ve done enough years of TV that I feel like it’s a normal, natural, comfortable place. I would love to be in a movie at some point. I would love to be the voice of a cartoon character in a movie for my kids. I think that would be fun.” As for her love life in fifteen years, she projects she will be alone since "nobody would buy into her mess."
VIDEO: Kate Answers The Re-Marriage Question
In one of the first poignant moments of the special, Kate reflects on her and Jon’s Hawaiian vow renewal last year and whether she harbors any regrets about it given their current struggles. “At that time, I knew that I meant it,” she said. “That was a goal of ours. That was something we had always wanted to do and I don’t have any regrets.” However, it does have a confusing effect on the kids: “The hard part of that is that my kids will say to me, ‘Well we were at your wedding and you said you’d always be married forever.’ That’s a hard thing to have to answer. You can’t quite explain it to kids, I have a hard time explaining it to myself.”

Kate also cleared up the drama over having given the family dogs back to the breeder. While she never had the intention of returning the pups, her current life as a single parent made her choose though she admitted not wanting to add another change to the children’s lives. “As a mother, if you have to choose between dogs and kids. Kids come first.” Still, she does hold out hope that “at some point things will calm down and the dogs can come back.”
Jon Blames Kate For Returning The Dogs
While she and Jon have cleared up their first post-separation money issue, she opened up about the money they have set aside for the children. “There is a healthy amount of money put away for the kids and it is safe. It will not be touched except for education,” she said. “I did this so my kids could go to college.”
Other gems from the sixty-minutes focused on Kate’s clothing and hair. “My hairstyle has kind of evolved over time. I had a hairdresser where I used to live that started the cut and the look,” she said. “Then I went to my current hairdresser and she said, no, no, this is too short on the top…so she insisted I grow it out in the front but I insisted I still had to have my spikes in the back because I always say that is the kindest way to show my attitude.” As for those heels? “I think my feet have bent that way…I don’t feel dressed if I don’t have heels on.” Plus: “Height makes you look thinner. Enough said.”
