Larry Birkhead Wanted Dannielynn Drug Tested

Larry Birkhead wanted his own child drug tested for fear Anna Nicole Smith was drugging her through breast feeding.

Testifying in the case against Howard Stern and two of Smith's former doctors, Birkhead confirmed he was fearful for Dannielynn's health.

Referring back to his statement in his 2006 paternity suit Birkhead confirmed he wanted the court to order a drug test on his daughter and her mother.

When asked by the prosecution in the Downtown Los Angeles courtroom if he was concerned her drug taking was effecting his child he said, "Yes." He also aknowledged that he wanted his ex to come back from the Bahamas where she was staying so he could monitor her.

"I didn't know what sort of condition she was in," he said. "She had just lost her son and that was a tremedous blow. I didn't know if the things I saw happening in the States were carrying on over there."

Prosecutors asked him outright; "You thought it was necessary to drug test your child?"

To which Birkhead said, "Yes, my lawyers said so."

Birkhead has previously told the court that Smith was taking methadone when pregnant.

And he said on Monday that he didn't know what else to do but to try to get his daughter back to him from overseas.

"I didn't know if she was taking too much medication, not taking enough. If she was having seizures."

Fortunately Birkhead was also able to confirm that despite Smith's drug problems, their daughter is healthy.

"She is healthy?" he was asked.

"Yes ma'am," he said.

"And she was born healthy?"

"Yes ma'am."

The case is continuing.
