NFL All-Pro wide receiver Plaxico Burress Tuesday was sentenced to, and began serving, two years of imprisonment in connection with the incident in which he shot himself at a Manhattan nightclub last November.
He had pleaded guilty to one count of attempted criminal possession of a weapon last month.
Burress, a former wide out for the New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers, was accompanied to the New York court session by his wife, son and father. His attorney, Benjamin Brafman, said of the sentencing was "a tragic day for a decent man."
