Adam Shankman has produced, directed and choreographed his way to being one of the top behind-the-scenes movers and shakers in show biz; now he gets to add another title to his resume: TV dance judge.
Shankman, the director of hits such as 17 Again, Hairspray and Bedtime Stories, will join Mary Murphy and Nigel Lythgoe on the panel of Fox's hit show, So You Think You Can Dance.
Shankman said the show "is one of the most important things to happen in the last decade for the art form.
"Choreography is how I found my way into this business, and I’m proud to be a part of the show," Shankman said. "As a filmmaker, it’s an honor to be able to recognize choreographers and dancers, and to be able to bring all of this amazing work into America's homes. These kids challenge themselves every week, and it’s great for people to see how terrific these dancers are.”
Equally as ecstatic about Shankman joining the show is executive producer (and fellow judge) Nygel Lythgoe, who said Shankman "is a consummate professional with a passion for dance and a discerning eye, which makes him perfect for us. Plus, it must be remembered, it takes a slightly crazy person to work with me and Mary."
So You Think You Can Dance airs on Fox Tuesdays at 9 p.m. and Wednesdays 8 p.m.
