The breakout English rockers -- whose smash-hit single, Supermassive Black Hole, was featured on the soundtrack to Twilight -- will be making their presence known in a multimedia way: A performance on the biggest of stages, new album, tour and even a video game cameo.
The band will make their American television debut on the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards Sept.13, and to celebrate the occasion, they are making free tickets available to their fans at www.1iota.com. The band's next album, The Resistance, hits shelves Sept. 15; their tour for the record starts Sept. 24 at Giants Stadium in New York.
That's not all, however: Matt Bellamy, the band's high-pitched front man, has been immortalized 2009-style, as the alternative rocker is a playable character in Guitar Hero 5, and the band's hit, Plug in Baby, will be on the game's 85-song list. Other prominent in-game artists featured on the highly-anticipated fifth installment of the popular game include Johnny Cash, Carlos Santana and Shirley Manson, as well as the tunes of icons such as The Rolling Stones, Tom Petty and Bob Dylan. The game hits shelves Sept. 1.
