Idol wants Paula Abdul. No, not American Idol, mate, we're talking about Australian Idol.

And yes, we didn't know there was an Australian Idol until one of our pals Down Under called to say that Paula has been offered a deal to join the show.

Well blimey, it's a natural fit, isn't it? The show has four judges and follows a nearly identical format to American Idol. And the Australians are serious about Paula - they put their request to strike a deal with her in writing, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively.

Meanwhile back on the top side of the world, ABC is still pursuing Paula heavily for Dancing With The Stars.

But as one source told RadarOnline.com, "Don't count out a return to American Idol for Paula. Sure there are bad feelings but a last-second return is not out of the question."

Simon Cowell, working on his own big bucks deal, has been supportive of Paula behind the scenes, as have fellow judges Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi.

And let's face it dog, while every judge has their shtick, the interplay between Simon and Paula is the most entertaining bit.
