TV: Sunday Hot List

Notice that the pickings are slim tonight? Well, of course-because what else are you watching besides the 82nd Annual Academy Awards? Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin are sharing hosting duties-and they have big shoes to fill after Hugh Jackman's memorable turn last year. We have a feeling they'll do just fine but the big question is whose taking home gold statuettes? There is so much competition in each category-there really isn't a clear cut winner! The Best Picture category features a whopping ten movies and all are worthy of the honor. Avatar is the frontrunner but keeping those blue aliens company in the race are The Blind Side, District 9, An Education, The Hurt Locker, Inglorious Basterds, Precious, A Serious Man, Up and Up in the Air.
Other hot categories include George Clooney (Up in the Air) and Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart) vying for Best Actor and Sandra Bullock (The Blind Side) with her first nomination ever in the Best Actress category. Word on the street is that she'll win-but she's also up against Meryl Streep who literally became Julia Child in Julie and Julia and of course Gabourey Sidibe, the newly discovered actress who broke hearts with her performance in Precious. And in the Best Supporting Actress category-it looks like Mo'Nique is a shoo in for Precious. But Vera Farmiga and Anna Kendrivck were just so darn great in Up in the Air that it's a hard call to make.
The red carpet arrivals start on ABC at 8pm ET and then the awards begin promptly at 8:30pm ET (though we can't promise they'll end before your bedtime) so make sure to get your viewing parties started on time!
