A beautifully made-over Susan Boyle told NBC News’ Meredith Vieira that her stint in a London mental health clinic was tied to extreme fatigue.

The singer, in the interview on Wednesday’s Today Show, looked quite different than the lovable introvert that waddled out on the stage last spring: her new hairstyle is short and brown; her once-bushy eyebrows have been streamlined to a more subtle, feminine form.

Boyle said she was exhausted, as she morphed from an anonymous Scottish spinster to an international superstar following her world famous performance of I Dreamed A Dream on Britain's Got Talent this past spring.

She told Viera, of being placed into a mental health clinic, that the onslaught of press coverage and pressure from the show caused her to take a break.

“When people got exhausted, they automatically have to have a rest,” Boyle, beaming with confidence previously unseen, told Viera. “That was pretty much necessary at the time. I needed a rest, just to get away.”

The entire interview airs on “America’s Got Talent” Wednesday, July 22 (9-10 p.m. ET) on NBC.
