Suspect Charged In Hit & Run Death Of American Idol Hopeful

Update: 23 year old Daniel Bark has now been charged with death by vehicular homicide in the hit and run that took the life of American Idol contestant Alexis Cohen. Bark was also charged with aggravated manslaughter and eluding police.
Cohen was hit on a road in Seaside Heights, New Jersey over the weekend-- her body was found by two pedestrians.
Bark's bail has been set at $185,000.
A 23-year-old man from Toms River, New Jersey, was taken into custody Sunday and charged with second-degree manslaughter in connection with the hit-and-run death of American Idol hopeful Alexis Cohen.
The case was ruled a homicide, according to authorities.
Daniel Bark, according to police, ran down Cohen then left the scene of the Jersey Shore accident early Saturday in his 2005 Mitsubishi Gallant. Bark is being held on $35,000 bail.

Authorities said Cohen, 25, suffered fatal chest, head and abdominal injuries.
Cohen, who auditioned twice for the talent competition, was memorable for her liberal use of glittery-eye makeup, and comparing herself to Pat Benatar, Janis Joplin and Grace Slick.
