iPhone 3G S: The "S" Stands for Speed
June 8 2009, Published 6:57 a.m. ET
As expected, Apple introduced the new iPhone 3G S, featuring improved speed and performance—reportedly up to twice as fast as iPhone 3G (big YAY!) —longer battery life, a high-quality 3 megapixel autofocus camera, easy to use video recording and hands free voice control.
What we can look forward to is a new OS (operating system) OS 3.0, with over 100 new features such as Cut, Copy and Paste, MMS, Spotlight Search, landscape keyboard and a new Find My iPhone feature that works together with MobileMe to help you locate a lost iPhone.
If you’re lucky enough to be a new customer or at the end of your contract, contract pricing is set at $199 for 16GB and $299 for 32GB when it goes on sale June 18th Stateside. The 8GB 3G will remain on sale for $99, effective immediately. You'll have to pay a bit more if you're mid-contract, though -- $299 for the 3G and $399/$499 for the 3G S.
Did we mention the “S’ stands for speed. You can find us on line at the Apple store July 18th.
