The story of squeaky-clean David Archuleta’s dad James Jeffrey getting arrested for soliciting prostitution came as a shock to American Idol fans who new the elder Archuleta for his hands-on stage parenting ways. It also came as a shock to those who know him and have lived near him in Utah for years.

““I was shocked when I learned that Jim was cited for soliciting prostitution,” says longtime neighbor Vernon Sorenson who also attends the same church as Archuleta. “He does not seem to be the type of guy that would do it.”
“Everyone that I talk to loves the family. Can’t say a negative thing about them. Jim is a nice guy.”
He even offered some insight about how David’s life changed after appearing on the hit singing competition: “David said that after he appeared on American Idol, it was no fun because they put him in a motel so that the public would not bother him.”
