It's the million dollar question. Did Adam Lambert, the odds-on favorite to win American Idol, lose the crown because of the perception that he's gay?

We'll never know, but it's got  a lot of people talking.

Gay activist Michelangelo Signorile twittered to RadarOnline.com:

"Not sure if that was the case with all or most, but I do think there was probably a surge in Christian conservatives coming out to vote for Allen, and it certainly didn’t hurt that Lambert was unconventional and perceived as gay. If he was gay and up against someone else, would it have gone this way? I don’t know. But he was up against someone who probably got support of a lot of Christian conservatives."

Queer Eye For The Straight Guy's Jai Rodriguez told RadarOnline.com, "As an openly gay contestant on a competition reality singing show produced by Simon Cowell (Celebrity Duets) I was a front runner. Being gay didn't negatively effect me. Being the front runner did. People didn't think I NEEDED the votes. Me being gay didn't seem to bother them. Adam Lambert is an incredible talent. It will serve him better in the long run NOT to have won."
