Adam Lambert is tearing up the American Idol stage this season as swimmer Michael Phelps dominated the Olympics last year, judge Paula Abdul said Tuesday night.
The 27-year-old Los Angeles native continued his string of breathtaking performances on Tuesday's Rat Pack-themed show, impressing the judges and audience with his version of Sammy Davis Jr.'s Feeling Good. The performance was enhanced by an extravagant grand entrance down a long flight of hot pink stairs that accentuated his never-ending supply of showmanship.

Simon Cowell praised Lambert for his evident desire to take home the gold.
"Winning is important," he said. "What I get from you is the feeling you want to win, and you want to prove a point every week and you want to entertain -- that's why I like the show this year."
Clearly, Lambert doesn't have to worry about getting the boot on Wednesday's elimination show, which airs at 9/8c on Fox.
