A record-setting 36 million voters determined this week's fate of this season's American Idol contestants -- and the numbers weren't kind to Michael Sarver.

Idol: Giraud Makes The Cut, Barely

The 27-year-old Texan's rendition of Ain't Too Proud To Beg failed to register with voters or judges, who declined to exercise their power to save a contestant with low audience votes from elimination.

"Michael, you're going home," Simon Cowell bluntly told him. "Sorry ... it just wasn't good enough."

Sarver might not have been too proud to beg, but kept his pride intact all the same, staying positive in defeat. He said he was happy for the chance to be a part of the American Idol tour this summer.
