Disgraced former Olympic figure skater Tonya Harding is opening up about the infamous 1994 attack on her bitter rival Nancy Kerrigan.

“I do care. I mean, I care, but I don’t care,” Harding told ABC News about still worrying what everyone thinks about her 23 years after Kerrigan’s infamous 1994 beat down with a baton.

“The most important people are my family and my closest friends,” she said. “Everybody else’s opinions don’t matter. So my motto is, ‘Take care of me, so I can take care of my family.’”

Interest in Harding, 47, has skyrocketed again now that Margot Robbie is portraying Harding in the new feature film I, Tonya.

The movie centers around the real-life events of Jan. 6, 1994, when an unidentified assailant hit Kerrigan, now 48, in the right knee.

It was later determined that Harding’s ex-husband Jeff Gillooly and his friend, Shawn Eckardt, paid the man to hurt Kerrigan.

Harding eventually pleaded guilty to conspire to hinder prosecution, was fined $160,000 and forced to do 500 hours of community service, but she has always refuted the belief she had anything to do with the disturbing incident.

“The media had me convicted of doing something wrong before I had even done anything at all, before I had talked to anyone, before I get out of bed,” said Harding, whose career in professional ice skating was ruined.

“I'm always the bad person,” Harding continued. “Is it a challenge from the Lord to see how far I can be pushed until I break and become nothing?”

You can’t push me that far anymore ‘cause I’ve been nothing,” she added in the revealing interview. “And I’ve been nothing several times. But it’s my faith in myself and in my father that comes back to me and makes me get back up off my butt and be something worth being proud of.”
