Buddy's Dark Past: 'My Big Fat Fabulous Life' Star Enters Rehab For Cocaine Abuse
My Big Fat Fabulous Life star Whitney Way Thore shared a bombshell reveal with friends during a shocking show teaser: her roommate Buddy Bell is in rehab for cocaine addiction.
During the clip, Thore, 33, admits to pals that Bell, 34, began using coke a few years ago, recreationally, but just recently started using it daily.
As RadarOnline.com exclusively reported last year, Bell was previously arrested and hit with a series of brutal charges in connection to a 2014 incident. The Wave County Criminal Court in North Carolina confirmed the troubled star was charged with assaulting a government official, second-degree trespassing, resisting a public officer, public intoxication and disorderly conduct. He was ultimately convicted of the disorderly conduct charge, and given a 45-day probation and $380 fine.
Reacting to Thore's news about Bell's cocaine habit, friend Todd Beasley replies in the teaser: "I can just hardly wrap my mind around it. Buddy just seems so even keeled to me, even though he had his anger outbursts. That's just part of his personality. I did not see that coming."
Thore then told her friends that at first, Bell told her "'Oh I can do this by myself,'" and though he was partly in denial, "he knew that something was wrong."

The star's pal, Tal Fish – who is a recovering addict – agreed, saying that Bell was probably "not ready to do something about it," at the time.
"I'm a person in long-term recovery myself, and I also work in the substance use field," continued Fish. "In order to achieve and sustain recovery, you have to get help from other people. It's not a battle that you can fight by yourself."
After talking more about the issue, the friend group begins to worry about Bell more and more, saying that they hope he doesn't jump back into his cocaine habit when he is released from rehab.
"I mean who's to say he won't pick right back up when he comes back here?" says a concerned Fish. "I'm a little concerned, honestly, if that's his plan."
My Big Fat Fabulous Life airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on TLC.
